The life expectancy is growing across the world resulting in a vast increase in the elderly population. At the same time, the number of people with chronic diseases is estimated to increase. This group of patients has a relatively high number of encounters with the healthcare system. At the same time, there is a current shortage of staff in the healthcare sector, which is expected to grow significantly in the future, making it difficult to meet the needs of the growing number of patients. However, innovative technology presents avenues for new prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation methods. During this site visit, the following question will be explored: How do we avoid lower quality in future treatments and ensure that innovation is incorporated and made possible as part of the solution?

Mental health and psychiatry are complex challenges, which are also acknowledged in Denmark’s 10-year plan for psychiatry and mental health. In recent years, it has become clear that the public system alone cannot solve these challenges. Through public-private partnerships, solutions that help people struggling with mental challenges are found, strengthening the overall approach to mental health in Denmark. The goal is to create a future where mental health is prioritised and accessible to all.
