Frederik Persson

Head of Department, Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen

For more than two decades, Frederik Persson’s research has focused on diabetic nephropathy and other diabetes-related complications. His work spans epidemiology, biomarkers, and exploratory studies, as well as contributions to and post-hoc analyses of large randomized controlled trials.

Frederik has played a key role in clinical research on renin inhibition and the potential for further renoprotection in patients with type 2 diabetes. This work formed the basis of his doctoral thesis, which he defended at the University of Copenhagen in 2013.

He has been a senior researcher in Professor Peter Rossing’s group at Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen, a leading research environment with a long-standing contribution to the field of diabetic complications.

In 2023, Frederik was appointed Head of Department for diabetes care. In this role, he is leading the transformation of traditional outpatient services into a modern, individualized and digital outpatient clinic.

Frederik will be speaking on November 19 at Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen.
