Jakob Skaarup Nielsen is Executive Director of Healthcare Denmark, a position he has held since 2021.

He holds a Master’s degree in Economics, Business Administration and Commercial Law from Aarhus University, School of Business.

Prior to his current role, Jakob served as Consul General at the Consulate General of Denmark in Chicago, USA (2018-2021). His career also includes extensive international experience, having served as Chief Advisor in the Department for Strategy, Policy & Quality at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark (2016-2018), Head of EU Corporate Public Affairs at the Permanent Representation of Denmark to the European Union in Brussels (2012-2016), Head of Section in the Department for Stabilization at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark (2010-2012), Regional Director Asia for Invest in Denmark at the Embassy of Denmark in Tokyo, Japan (2007-2010), Trade Commissioner & Consul at the Consulate and Trade Commission of Denmark in Chongqing, China (2004-2007), and Commercial Attaché at the Embassy of Denmark in Singapore (2000-2004).

As Executive Director of Healthcare Denmark, he is responsible for positioning Denmark as an international partner in health and life science, promoting Danish health exports and global partnerships.
