Nana Folmann Hempler is Head of Research and Development at the Danish Multiple Sclerosis Society, where she leads the organization’s research strategy, project development, and research funding activities.

She holds a PhD in Health Sciences and a Master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Copenhagen and brings more than 20 years of experience in health research and chronic disease management.

Prior to joining the Danish Multiple Sclerosis Society, Nana served as Research Group Leader at Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen. Throughout her career, she has worked extensively within health promotion, access to treatment, patient involvement, and the everyday realities of living with chronic illness, with a particular focus on lifestyle, gender, and family life.

In addition to her executive responsibilities, Nana is also active in public health and research governance as a board member and former Chair of the Danish Society of Public Health, Chair of the Conference Committee for the National Public Health Conference, and member of several steering groups and international networks within multiple sclerosis research.
