The architecture of Herlev Hospital reflects Denmark’s longstanding commitment to innovation in healthcare. Designed by architects Gehrdt Bornebusch, Max Brüel, and Jørgen Selchau, the original hospital was conceived as a modern high-rise complex centered around efficiency, accessibility, and patient care. The addition of the award-winning North Wing has further strengthened its position as a leading example of contemporary hospital design, combining advanced clinical facilities with patient-centered environments.

It houses state-of-the-art operating theatres, laboratories, outpatient clinics, and one of Denmark’s largest maternity and pediatric facilities, supporting both groundbreaking research and high-quality patient care.
