Professor, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and Oslo University Hospital
Gunnar Bovim is Professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and Oslo University Hospital.
Trained as a neurologist, he has spent the past three decades in senior leadership roles across healthcare, higher education, and research.
Throughout his career, Gunnar has served as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at NTNU, Chief Executive Officer of Trondheim University Hospital, and Chief Executive Officer of the Central Norway Regional Health Authority (similar to Danish Regions).
He has also chaired several national commissions on healthcare reform and workforce development, including the Norwegian Health Personnel Commission (2023) and the Norwegian Health Reform Commission (present). In addition, he served as a member of the Danish Healthcare Structure Commission (Sundhedsstrukturkommissionen) (2024).
Alongside his executive leadership roles, Gunnar chairs the boards of Oslo University Hospital and the Research Council of Norway and serves as a board member of Copenhagen Business School.
